I went to an ICC readers theater thing 1st hour. We played catch in P.U. I was in a good mood. I only worked an hour before I was sent home cause of lack of customers. I came home, watched Cliff hangers, talked to Kevin & Mike, and Stacey. I called work to find out my schedule. I don't have to come in till Friday! Then none this weekend, then I go in Monday! Yipee!!!

Went to school. Watched a film & took notes in Fart class. I hit the softball in Physical Education class. After school, we went to K-Fart. I picked up my 5x7 of Mark. I got a shirt, a magazine, notebook paper and an ice cream cone. I saw Sandy there. Came home. It rained. I cleaned my room. The one night I don't work, mom makes shit for supper! I watched Carol Burnett. My thigh muscles are killing me! Matter-a-fact, my whole bod aches! I watched Real People. It was hilarious! They had a strip joint for women only; where the men danced around and took off their clothes! Sounds like my kinda place! Watched the rest of a Cubs-Reds game. We lost 4-1. Figures!

In Art, we're going to make pin-hole cameras. They're really neat! I can't wait to see how mine turns out! I didn't hear from Stacy yet. I made tacos for supper. Me & Mike went out and looked at used cars. I want one real bad. I watched a Mork double feature, then Gilligan's Island, then Susan Anton. I don't have anything intersting to say. I'm going to bed - Erik's waiting! Oh, how I wish! Time to watch the news! John Day says we're due for a dry spell! GOOD! All it has done lately is rain! Oh, did I tell you that stuff made my wart fall off? Well, it did! Now I'm working on the puny one on my little finger.

In Business, an AFS student who went to Africa talked to the class. I came home, cleaned up, and went to work. I was in a great mood, and I made good tips! I worked till 8:15, then I came home and watched the remainder of the Best of Saturday Night Live II.

GOT MY 1973 MONTE CARLO

I got a car!And it's a MONTE CARLO. It's a '73, 2 door automatic, red with white vinyl top! I can't believe it! All together, it cost $1610! We got it at Bush Holloway Ford! It's beautiful! There's alot of stuff we had to go through to get it, but too much to write in here! I brought it home, cleaned it up. Then, I drove it up to show Stacey. We drove to Dunlap. I came home, gave Cathy a ride. Mike & girlfiend came & looked at it. Mike's jealous! The weather was beautiful! So is my car! It's got AM-FM radio, heat-air conditioning, tilt steering wheel! Mor, more, more! I love it! I opened a savings account at the Cat Credit Union. My car is so neat! I'll be paying Dad back bit by bit. I love my car! I must write & tell Buster about it! And Stacy too if he ever writes back! I love it! I took pictures of it. I love this car!

I worked on my car; cleaning it up. I talked to Stacey. She stopped by with Mrs. Rice. My speedometer bulb is burnt out, and at night, I can't see how fast I'm going. And the window on the driver's side doesn't work too good. But what do you expect? Every thing else is great! I get to drive it to school tomarrow! I hope I don't run out of gas! The Cubs beat the Braves. The Demeans came over with their 2 girls. They're pretty nice. Time for me to crash.

Started making pinhole cameras in Art. No body was even thrilled about my car. They're probably jealous. I had no problem with traffic. Me & ma, after I got back, went up to the Lake of the Woods Self-Serve, and put in 7 dollars worth.

Then, everything went wrong when I got to work. I'd rather not talk about it. It stunk! I got off at 9:15. I hate to say this, but if I hadn't gotten that car, I would quit. But I'm only gonna work there as long as it takes to pay it off. I want to be a d.j.! I wish I'd hear from WCLL! If I could only get a job there, I'd have everything I want!

I drove to school. This pen don't write good. In Art, someone stole my Mr. Erasable. Stacey skipped prison. I'm a co-captain on a P.U. softball team. I drove home. I went up to get my check. It stunk! $14.03. They only paid me 1/2 of minimum wage those first 3 nights, when I was supposed to get the whole thing! I'm applying at a Hardee's Thursday. Maybe they'd at least pay me minimum wage! I wrote Buster a letter. I'll mail it tomarrow. I hope he writes back. Dad worked some on my car. Would you look how hot it is!? I can't believe it! I watched 10 commandments, 3's Company, Taxi, hour of Hanging by a Thread.

School was fun. Especially softball in P.E. It got hot! But it was nice. I got no mail.

Work ruined my night. I did real good. But Mary Elen didn't think so. She yelled at me & said I have 2 more chances as a waitress, if I don't do good, they'll make me bus. If they do, I'll quit. Tomarrow, I'm applying at Metro Cinema.

Began a practice set in Business class. Reviewed for a test in Fart. Didn't do no work in English. Who cares about Typing? We're losing the game in P.E. Came home. Me and Mom went to K-Mart and got a barbeque grill. She invited Cow and Fish over Sunday for a cook-out. I washed my car. I watched Mork, and Chevy Chase's Special. It was pretty funny. Talked to Stacey on phone. I think I'm quitting my job tomarrow. I'm gonna tell them to "take this job and shove it!" It's gonna be fun trying to figure out how.

I flunked an Art test. It's no wonder; I didn't study. I did the shuttle run in 10.5 seconds. Big deal, what does that prove? I came home. I ate supper. Then, I went up and quit my job. I told them I got a job at WCLL! I deposited $10 in my savings. I picked up my paycheck. I came back home. Talked to Stacey. We're going to the mall tomarrow so I can get Mom some flowers for Mother's Day. I watched part of The Best of Dean Martin. I'm gonna watch Love Story. If it's anything like the book, it'll be good. The gas shortage is getting worse. The house didn't pass Carter's bill for standby rationing. Did you know that Illinois has more nuclear plants than any other state in the U.S. of A.?

Me & Ma went to Venture where I got Buster an orange football jersy that says "JOCK," another Mork poster, Krogers for groceries, then back home. I took me & Stacey to the mall. I got mom 2 red roses, Grandma a card, and me a pair of sunglasses. I then went to S.D.'s house where we compared diaries and played softball with 3 little boys. I came home. I ate supper. I watched a special 2 hour Chip's. I love Erik Estrada! My God - what a body that man has! Ma and Pa went to the Brem's I watched a repeat of BJ & Bear. It was cold today.

I picked up my room. At 11:15, I drove up and got Grandma. Bob, Sharolyn, Chad, Miranda, Carl, Phyllis, Sandy all came over and we had food. It rained for a few seconds. When it stopped, I chamoised off my car. I watched a Cub-Astro game. We lost 3-zip. I brung Grandma back home. Dad fixed my window. I'm really glad. I watched Scott & Jimmy Baio on Fantasy Island. Stacey called (of course! don't she always?) I watched a movie called "the Cassandra Crossing." I brushed my teeth, washed my face. Now I'm watching the news, then, I'll go to bed.

Went to school. Ran 600 yd dash in 3 min 31 sec. Big deal! Came home. Ate. Leif Garrett was on Bob Hope. Looked at some old pictures and stuff. Found a 1971 yearbook. I did not even know Stacy went to Mossville then, but he's in there! It's such a cute picture! his brother Steve is in there too. I'd never seen him before! He's a year older than me. Hmmm.......

Went to school. Mr. Flagg is getting upset with us. I'm not doing my English. I did the 50 yd. dash in 8.4 seconds. I came home. I went with Mom up to Sheridan Village. We came home. I washed my car. I ate supper. I watched Part 1 of a Dick Cavett interview with Robin Williams. He was so funny! I "ran" down to the Convenient for sodie, then up to the Dunlap self serve and got 10 gallons for 8 bucks. I answered letters, Watched Happy Days, LaVerne & Shirley. Stacey's mom asked me to stay all night Friday. She'll give me 2 bucks, but that don't buy much gas! I dug up some stuff & priced it. I watched a bit of The Rebels. I don't really want to waste my time & gas spending the nite at S.D.'s, but what can I say? I have to be home early Sat. morn for the garage sale. Mom's letting me stay home Friday to help. Mailed S.L. a letter. I've gone through this entire school year without Buster, and ya know what? It's stunk!!!!!

Went to prison. My stinkin' camera don't work worth beans! Played softball in P.U. Got out at 1:00 cause of assembly. Jan & Dean were on Dinah. It was interesting. Mom went on a bus trip to St. Louis all day. I made hamburgers for supper. Dad & I did the dishes. I talked to Stacey. I watched Real People. I fed the animals. I watched You Can't Take it With You. It stunk real bad. I mean real bad. I practiced my typing. The new zit soap I'm using is making my face turn red and zitty. Time to watch Robin on Dick Cavett for the 2nd part of that interview. Mom came home. She didn't bring me anything.

Thursday May 17, 1979 (Stacy's coming up!)

I drove to school. Mr. Flagg finally yelled at me in Art class. I was wondering how long it would take him. I drove home. I got a letter from Stacy. He said that he'll be up this weekend! Great, he has to pick the time when my face has gone bonkers, and I already have a million things planned!! I look so gross, it isn't funny! my whole face is falling apart, including my lips, and I just may need to use them for once! I washed the Granada. We had spaghetti for supper. I went fishing with Mike. We didn't catch anything, but we did stick a few dead ones on a couple sticks. I came back and took a bath. Mom and Dad are working on stuff for the garage sale. They have all of the cars out of the way, and a bunch of garbage in there. I watched Family. It stunk as per usual. I hope my face gets better by the time Stacy gets here. And I hope we can go out together. Not that he just stops by with his mom, and says hi. I'm planning on having a swinging time. No school for me tomarrow. I'm gonna pick Stacey up there, and then we go to her house, and I stay all night. I purchased tickets for the Saturday presentation of our play M*A*S*H. It should be neat to see it. It should also be neat to see Stacy. I hope I don't miss him. I hope he calls and makes an "appointment." He thinks I'm still working. Stacey is the only one of my friends that knows that I quit, and she better keep her big mouth shut if she wants to live! Welp, gotta go! Wish me luck with Stacy!!!

Woke up early. Came home. Stacy had called at 7:30 this morning. He called again and came over at about 9:30. I drove him all over the place to find old friends. We came back, played frisbee, smess, badmitton, had squirt gun fights, & listened to some tapes of his. I took him back to get some clean clothes, then we came home & cleaned up. I took him to see the play. Stacey gave him her ticket. I brought him back to his grandmas house where he is staying. It was neat seeing him again, and I had fun.

Sunday May 20, 1979 (Chad's 4 years old)

Mom woke me up early. She wanted me to go to Bob & Shar's for Chad's birthday. But they wouldn't wait for me to wash my hair. I ran down to Convenient and got 2 dog-nuts and C. Milk. Me & Mike went to Miracle Mart where I got a couple car parts and some Polaroid film. I came home and ate. Ma & me went to the mall. I picked up my paycheck. I bought a new Mork poster. Then we went over to Stacey's to buy her bike, but she wasn't there. I put the Polaroid pictures of me & Stacy in an envelope with a check to mail off tomarrow for reprints. Watched Donald Duck, Gueness Book of World Records. Stacy didn't come over today like he said he would. I can understand though, cuz he had a zillion people he wanted to see. I'm going to bed early. Now, watch him come!

Drove to school. Brought the Polaroid. I think I'm flunking every class. I got my license plates. Mike put on a couple newer tires for my car. Went up to Stacey's & got the bike for mom. I watched a show "The Body Human: The Sexes" which I found interesting and quite amusing. Watched Vacation in Hell. Stacey's acting wierd lately.

We played frisbee at lunch & softball in P.E. I came home, got mom, went & got 7 bucks worth of gas, applied for a job at the new K-Mart, then to mall, left film, got a Cubs shirt & blue shorts. Came home. Made pizza for supper. Rode bikes with Ma. Brought the Snook in. Watched t.v. Put Snook out. Messed up my room trying to clean the closet shelf. Well, at least it's clean! I hope I get the job at K-Fart. I'd make big bucks there. I need loot! I finally ran completely out today. Stacey's still acting real smart aleky, etc. If she wants to keep me for her friend, she better just cool it! I'm getting sick of her! I wish she'd give me a break and not talk to me for a few days!

Me & Kim jumped over the library walls & flew airplanes. It was our last day of P.E. We played softball with the big fat ball. It was cold & windy out. I went to Con & cashed in sodie bottles. I got on my p.j.'s. I wrote Stacy a letter. I ate supper. I looked at the paper. I watched the news. Talked to SD on phone. Watched The Odd Couple, & a Mork rerun. Talked to SD on phone. Room is complete disaster! Going to bed early. Darcy got me twice unexpectedly with her camera. I'll bring mine tomarrow & get her back! I can't believe another school year has really gone by. This one, I think, almost sincerely stunk! But, I can honestly say one thing: I have some really great friends, who have made my sophomore year as fun as possible!

Brought the camera to school. Took up the whole roll. Had a blast 5th hour. After school, me & ma went to Penney's to pick up film & leave what I took today. Saw Gordon at Book Store.

I ate supper. I went to the Chilli carnival. It was a blast! Lots of fun! I saw Joe Gusman there. Boy is he ever the hunk! WCLL was broadcasting a disco in the street.

I'm sleepy. Bout time for Prunella. Oh well, it's okay if she's late! The weather really stinks! It's too damn cold! I wish it would get at least up to the normal conditions!

I love Buster! I wish he were here! I want him so badly! I hope I'll see him this summer!

Real sleepy day. Went shopping. Got football jersy at CJ's where I left my Buster pic to get it put on. I want to get a Monte Carlo transfer on a shirt when I pick up this one. I came home & loafed in my p.j.s. Watched ABC sports, Chips. Erik is a humongus hunk. Saw part of a Cub-Phillie game. Pete Rose stinks! Dad went on a plane trip with Mel to Detroit. I kind of studied. My room is a complete disaster, but it's been too lazy of a day to pick it up! I talked to SD. I made a graph of the weekly highs and lows.

Cleaned up my room. Took a shower & washed my hair. Let it dry "Leif style." I like it! Vacuumed out my car. Listend to the AT 40. Had hot dogs & hamburger on the grill. Talked to SD on phone. I need gas, but I have no money! Listened to records. I went down to the Con to get bananas for my ice cream. When I got home, I ran into the garage. I was lucky that Dad didn't blow up and I didn't dent my car! We went down to the Galena Marina and watched the boats come in while Mike floated around in his inflatible boat!!! I watched All in the Family, 1 Day at a Time. Talked to SD. Watched a movie called "Dummy." I should have spent the whole weekend for final exams, but, that's tuff! Cubs got beat today - but won yesterday. I was gonna stay up and watch Richard on Streets of San Fran, but I'm too sleepy!

Monday May 28, 1979 (Memorial Day)

Mom woke me up early to see Leif on "Good Morning America." I put $5 worth in my tank at the Con. I washed my car good. I ate alot. I watched television. I talked to SD. I watched the entire cast of "WKRP" on "Dinah." I drove down to the Con & got a bag of ice & some sodie. I am now sitting in the sun in the back yard. Brought Snook in. Rode bikes with mom. Talked to SD. Watched "the Odd Couple," "Little House on the Prairie," "MASH," and "WKRP in Cinncinnatti." Talked to SD. We compared diaries. Big deal! Poor Snook. He's awful sickly looking, so we're keeping him inside now. Finals are really gonna be fun seein' as I hardly studied! Oh well, if all else fails, use cheat notes. That's what I always say! As long as I pass all of my classes, I'll be satisfied! Well, it's time to hit the ol' sack, and look forward to another day!

Went to school. Took my final exams. They stunk, what did you expect? I took 6 friends to Pizza hut. I got the reprints of me & Stacy in the mail. That sure didn't take long! I wrote him a letter enclosing his pics. I'll mail it tomarrow. Mom gave me a perm. It's real curly! I love it!

Wednesday May 30, 1979 (last day of school)

I went to school and took my typing final. I didn't do too good. I got out at 10. Me & ma went to Aunt Dot's, then to Long John Silver's Sea Food Shoppe for lunch, then to the mall to see if my pics of the gang are in yet, they weren't. On the way home, we stopped at the gas station and P.O. I answered letters. I rode bikes. I totally changed around my room. It looks pretty cool. I talked to Stacey. She's man crazy! But then, who ain't! She's staying all night tomarrow and Friday we're going to the grade school to bug old teachers. I watched a Cub-Pirate game. I think we lost. I watched A Boy Named Charlie Brown. NO MORE PENCILS - NO MORE BOOKS - NO MORE TEACHERS DIRTY LOOKS!

Woke up at 9. Washed hair. Filled up my gas tank. Got Stacey. We went to Venture, then the mall. We followed Mom home, ate lunch, watched my story, played frisbee, cracked rocks, watched Mork, compared diaries, tried to tan, went to Mossville dairy bar.
